History:

Originally part of Plymouth Colony following King Philips War Bristol was one of five towns received from Massachusetts in 1746. The Town of Bristol features the oldest Fourth of July parade and celebration in the United States. The event brings in thousands of visitors each year from all over the world.

The Town of Bristol is considered a desirable location with easy access to Newport County via the Mount Hope Bridge to the south and a short drive to Providence in the north. Bristol is home to Roger Williams University - a beautiful sea-side campass offering excellent undergraduate education along with professional degrees in Law and Architecture. Area attractions in Bristol include Colt State Park, Linden Place and historic Mount Hope Farm. The public school system is fairly good and improving and housing is moderately priced for Rhode Island.
