Town of Barrington

History:

The area now known as Barrington was named after Lord Barrington and was part of Plymouth Colony until 1747. The territory of the Town of Warren, when admitted to the State, included the Town of Barrington and a portion of the towns of Swansea and Rehoboth in Massachusetts. In 1770 Warren was divided and one of the original names (Barrington) was given to the new town.
